COME REUNION -- on november 15, chris' old band COME reunited for one show at the tanned tin festival in castellon, spain. this was the line-up that appeared on COME's final album "gently down the stream": thalia zedek, winston braman, daniel coughlin, and chris brokaw. a video of "bitten" from the show is online. the group played a surprise 2 song set last year at a friend's birthday (nov 2007 videos: "submerge" and "hurricane"); prior to that the band has not performed since april 2001. there are no plans at this point for the band to perform anywhere beyond this show. read about it at the pitchfork blog. listen to COME on myspace.

THE NEW YEAR's 2008 cd/lp was released september 9. the band, with chris on drums, is doing extensive touring in the u.s. and europe.
in addition to CANARIS, chris has also been recording a SECOND NEW SOLO ALBUM. it will be a rock album with vocals, to be released early in 2009.
on june 30, 2008 i and ear records released the
deluxe 180 gram white vinyl edition of "INCREDIBLE
LOVE", with heavy gatefold sleeve and one bonus track.

two recent interviews of note: "Fortunate One" in the boston phoenix and "Chris Brokaw's Stormy Documentary" in the madison avenue journal. both detail chris' recent projects, including his work on a documentary about graphic designer STORM THORGERSON, probably most well known for his PINK FLOYD album covers.
chris recently played guitar on new recordings by
THE LEMONHEADS and by CHRISTINA ROSENVINGE. both of these albums will come out this fall.
DIRT MUSIC, a project with CHRIS, HUGO RACE (ex-bad seeds; hugo on myspace) and CHRIS ECKMAN (ex-walkabouts), traveled to essakane, mali for the african festival in
the desert.
"IN THE DESERT" is a live cd of the band performing and rehersing in essakane and bamako, mali, january 2008. limited edition of 500 copies; some are still for sale at www.glitterhouse.com.
chris has played throughout the year with THURSTON MOORE in a full band that is a side project from moore's work with SONIC YOUTH. (video: chris and thurston at sxsw.)
chris and geoff farina (KARATE) have been at work recording an album comprised almost entirely of pre-WWII blues songs. entitled "THE ANGEL'S MESSAGE TO ME", it will be released by chris's new label CAPITAN RECORDS in early 2009.
chris's new-ish band FFLASHLIGHTS has played shows in new york, boston and chicago, and have begun work on recording in chicago. the band also includes DOUG MCCOMBS and ELLIOT DICKS.
"i remember" from chris' solo record "INCREDIBLE LOVE" is on the soundtrack to the NBC tv show "friday night lights." also on the cd are songs by spoon, outkast, the killers, iron & wine, and explosions in the sky.
